MSM—Natural Treatment For Pain

MSM Reduces Pain and Inflammation for Most People,
Without Side Effects

    MSM is a safe and nontoxic natural solution for many painful inflammatory conditions. MSM, methylsulfonylmethane, is a common sulfur molecule occurring in foods and the human body. Sulfur is found mostly in protein, so the hair, skin, and nails contain a lot (people taking MSM often comment that their hair and nails become stronger). Sulfur is a healing agent; sulfur hot springs have healing traditions attached to them, especially for painful conditions. For many years, thousands of patients have taken MSM supplements without side effects. This is detailed in The Miracle of MSM, by Stanley Jacob, M.D., professor of surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Jacob estimates that MSM provides significant relief for pain in about 70% of the people trying it. Do not confuse MSM with sulfur drugs. How to take MSM: Thousands of people have experienced healing benefits by taking 2 to 8 grams (2,000 to 8,000 mg) daily, the amount depending on their gastrointestinal tolerance and their condition (too much will cause mild gastrointestinal upset and loose stools). Severe, deep-seated conditions usually require higher doses, sometimes up to 30 or 40 grams daily or even more. The higher the dose you can take without getting an upset stomach the quicker you'll experience benefits. Start with one or two grams a day and increase the dosage slowly every several days. Divide the doses during the day. Take MSM around mealtime. Don't take it around bedtime, as it often increases energy levels. Be patient. While some people experience benefits almost immediately, for others improvement may take a few months.
